Here are some quick updates on what we have been working on recently:
Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP)
Since the last newsletter there has been a public consultation on the Area of Designation i.e. the boundary of the neighbourhood development plan for Kidmore End. In essence, the boundary is the parish boundary minus 2 fields, which are within the area of the Sonning Common NDP. The consultation finished on 4.12.2017 and the boundary has been signed off by SODC. The map of area can be found here.
This means that we can now move forward. A grant application to SODC, to start the funding, has been successful and further grant applications will be made in the New Year. The steering group is planning two public consultation events in February – one of Saturday 24 February at Kidmore End Primary School during the day and another on Wednesday 28 February in the evening at the Parish Room in Kidmore End.
The steering group is hoping that the two events will generate a lot of interest in the plan and get people’s thoughts on housing and what the parish will look like in the future. The steering group is working on a household survey and further updates will be available on the NDP part of website and at the public meetings.
With regard to the number of new builds “required” in the parish, we have been advised that SODC suggests between 6-13 houses in the village of Kidmore End.

SODC Emerging Local Plan
The Council submitted views on the SODC emerging plan.
20mph Speed Limit
The signage for the 20mph speed limit in Kidmore End village has started and should be completed soon.
Local Large Planning Application Decisions
Eye and Dunsden – P16/S3630/O
This is the application for 245 houses on land next to Emmer Green by Gladmans. This application has gone to appeal and a public inquiry will be held at Henley Town Hall from 1 to 4 May 2018.
The Council now owns three former phone kiosks, in Chalkhouse Green, Kidmore End and Cane End. There has been work undertaken to improve the kiosks. Alastair and Caroline McAslan are going to be painting the phone boxes and then looking to everyone for ideas in the New Year.
Thank you to those in the parish who have cut back hedges. If yours is still in need of a trim, it would be brilliant if you could cut it back. With narrow lanes and very limited pavements, keeping everyone safe is a priority. Thank you.
Website Sign Up
The Council would like to encourage you to sign up on the website for email alerts, as this is a cost free way of communicating with everyone in the parish about what is happening locally.
There is still free bark at the Gallowstree Common Recreation Ground, in a pile in the car park area. If you would like to take some, it would be helpful to us and you.
In 2014 the Parish Council wrote a winter plan which has been updated and is available here.
