Information for candidates and agents
Those wishing to stand in the local elections on 2 May have until 4pm on Wednesday 3 April to submit their nomination forms – for more information see SODC’s page for candidates and agents.
If you would like to run and be appointed a local parish councillor, you will need to fill in some forms, which you will find here.
SODC publish the names of the candidates standing for election on Thursday 4 April, when the nomination period has ended. This will be available on SODC’s elections pages from 4pm and social media accounts.
To vote on 2 May, residents need to be registered by Friday 12 April. Anyone who isn’t registered at their current address should visit gov.uk/register-to-vote to ensure they are eligible to vote.
Those who registered to vote by 8 March 2019, should receive their poll card by Monday 8 April – anyone who doesn’t receive it by this date should call the Elections team on 01235 422528 to make sure they are registered.
Anybody who registers to vote between 9 March and the cut-off date of 12 April should receive their poll cards during the week commencing Monday 15 April.
If someone wishes to vote by post, the Elections team must receive their application by 5pm on Monday 15 April – application forms are available at southoxon.gov.uk/elections.
Everybody who applies for a postal vote should receive their ballot pack by Wednesday 26 April – if it doesn’t arrive by this date postal voters should contact Elections on 01235 422528 to request a replacement.
