Oxfordshire will be hosting stage three of the OVO Women’s Tour on Wednesday 12 June – Olympic and World Championship level riders will be competing! The race will be televised around the world and is a great opportunity to show the world the best aspects of our towns and villages. We would love for the televised pictures to show our residents out on the streets, cheering the racers along.
The www.womenstour.co.uk website has plenty of information on how residents can help out at the event as Race Makers. The website also shows the route with times that riders are expected to pass certain villages and towns. This will make it easy for residents to plan where they will could cheer on and support these riders.
While everyone is inspired by top level athletes competing for a place on the podium, we are encouraging communities to support a fun and friendly community cycling event in Wallingford on Friday 12 – Sunday 14 July.
Wallingford Festival of Cycling will be offering 6 organised rides for every level of rider, from a family 5 mile ride to a 100 miler for the more experienced cyclist. There will be competitive races in the town centre, children’s cycling activities in the park, a giant stunt bag, a downhill dual track course, a chance to ride a penny farthing and much more! The Festival volunteers offer monthly Couch to Saddle training rides to help beginner cyclists build up to the big day. The next Couch to Saddle rides will be Sunday 19 May and 23 June.
